Students are only eligible to write a bachelor thesis in the Department of Corporate Development, if they successfully took the bachelor seminar at on of the Area chairs. Additionally, students need to show at least 100 ECTS at the time of the formal registration. Please note, that the application process is during the first assignment phase and takes place on KLIPS.

Students who have earned at least 60 ECTS may apply to write the master's thesis. The topic of the Master's thesis in the Business Administration degree program must be taken from the focus area or the group of the supplementary area taken by the examination candidate. If the topic is assigned to the supplementary area, the examination candidate must have already acquired 18 ECTS in the supplementary area.

The allocation of the bachelor thesis is centrally organized through KLIPS during the first registration period. If you wish to write your bachelor thesis in the Department of Corporate Development, you need to fill in an ILIAS survey, after you have been successfully allocated to the Area within the KLIPS allocation. Master thesis: Please use only the regular assignment periods (application in February for writing the master thesis in the summer semester, application in July for writing the master thesis in the winter semester). The exact period of the assignment times is based on the 1st assignment phase in Klips. No. You do not yet have to provide a specific topic proposal or a concrete research question in your application. However, we would be pleased if you already have some initial (preferably concrete) ideas for your work. If you do not have these yet, we ask you strongly to indicate a rough topic area in which you can imagine your work. This is the only way we can provide you with a suitable supervisor.

The topic will be developed together with the supervisor after it has been assigned, whereby the candidate should be oriented towards the topics of the lectures and exercises and/or an interesting question from practice. The aim is to name a concrete question or problem and to answer it within the thesis.

Yes, there is an intensive supervision phase during the specification of the topic and the preparation of the structure. Afterwards, the supervisor remains the contact person and can be contacted at any time in case of problems, need for discussion and questions (as early as possible).

Yes. Application via ILIAS allocation is also possible for students from the supplementary area. The allocation depends on the current supervision capacities of the Corporate Development Departmenr. However, appropriate familiarization with the subject matter and alignment of the topic with the Area's focus is expected. Please contact us before applying.

All theses are registered with the examination office after the supervisor has approved the topic. The registration form for Master's theses is prepared by the supervisor and signed by the students.

The main part of a bachelor thesis should not exceed 25 pages, the main part of the master's thesis should not exceed 40 pages. Please use our template.

The processing time for the master thesis is 6 months (CD) or 3 months (CEMS MIM) (the registration date noted on the registration form is valid). The exact submission date will be communicated to you by mail by the examination office. It will also be recorded in Klips.

The examination regulations determine that the processing time of a Master's thesis can be extended by up to two months in justified cases. An extension beyond this is excluded. If possible reasons for extension still exist, a withdrawal from the thesis can be applied for. The decision on the existence of such an individual case is incumbent upon the chairperson of the Joint Examination Committee. The precondition is a prolonged restriction of the student's performance relevant to examination law or that essential data or tools are not available at the agreed time or interview appointments are delayed. An extension must (!) be applied for via the examination office.

The thesis must be submitted to the examination office by the set deadline. The submission takes place digitally via the WiSo-Inbox. Please note the current requirements of the examination office.
